Caafimaad+ consortium provides free quality outpatient consultations at static health facilities and through outreach mobile units, increasing access for vulnerable populations in hard-to-reach areas.
Our services align with the 6 core EPHS services, including maternal and child health, communicable disease control, and treatment of common illnesses and STIs. We also offer four additional services in hospitals and referral health centers, including chronic disease management, elderly and palliative care, mental health and disability, and dental and eye health.
Caafimaad+ consortium provides free quality outpatient consultations at static health facilities as well as through outreach mobile units that increase access to vulnerable people in hard-to-reach areas. The Consortium aligns to the 6 core EPHS services (Maternal, reproductive and neonatal health; Child health; Communicable disease surveillance and control, including WATSAN promotion; First aid and care of critically ill and injured; Treatment of common illness and STIs) in health centers and hospitals. Four additional services (Management of chronic disease and other diseases; care of the elderly and palliative care; mental health and mental disability; Dental health and Eye health) are offered in Hospitals and Referral health centers.
For cases that require admission and severe cases, the consortium offers free hospitalization services at various supported Referral health centres, District hospitals, and Regional hospitals. Specialist services are available in some of the facilities.
Free antenatal care (ANC) and post-natal Care (PNC) services are offered to expectant and new mothers. Ante-natal care services comprise provision and promotion of ANC including health check-up for the diagnoses and treatment of illnesses, including anemia and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), screening for pre-eclampsia and further monitoring; provision of intermittent preventive treatment (IPT) for malaria in pregnancy; tetanus toxoid immunization; deworming; micronutrient supplementation; screening with MUAC, referral of cases of acute malnutrition and individual counselling on maternal nutrition; promotion of facility births. Counselling and testing for HIV to prevent mother to child transmission. ANC services include sensitization to prepare women for childbirth, making sure that women acquire basic knowledge about possible complications of childbirth, promotion of birth spacing; education on danger signs during pregnancy and importance of establishing a birth plan and supplementation of multi-micronutrients for pregnant and lactating women. All supported health facilities provide basic emergency obstetrics and newborn care (BEmONC) services while hospitals also offer comprehensive emergency obstetric and new born care (CEmONC). Medical personnel in primary, secondary and referral health facilities are trained on BEmONC and CEmONC. Routine immunization services are provided as part of postnatal care and child health at the facilities and during outreach services in line with EPI guidelines
Loss of livelihood, insecurity, and displacements resulting from the same can have profound negative effects on the psychological and mental status of the affected persons. The consortium provides for basic mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS)
Sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) incidences tend to increase with instability of contexts. To mitigate this, Caafimaad+ consortium provides basic and referral services for SGBV. The consortium ensures appropriate and timely interventions to survivors of rape and SGBV. Healthcare providers (doctors, medical assistants, nurses, etc.) trained on provision of appropriate care, psychosocial support provide the SGBV services.
